Important for safety
I got this for my new pup and I was worried about it being too short and I went with the longer seat belt. I really wish I would have gotten the shorter one for my mid size SUV. Its long enough that she can get to my front seat arm rest. I was using this attached to latch system and I have now attached it to the car seat tether behind the seat and that shortened the length now so that she is able to try to jump up front. It is strong and durable. I cannot imagine a dog breaking it. I am buying another for my family members new pup too, I will be getting the shorter on this time

Perfect! Absolutely perfect!
I’ve had a couple of different dog car “seatbelts”. One had a loop that allowed for tying a slip knot around the the actual car seatbelt and had a caribinar on the opposite end to hook onto the dog’s harness.. All that did was crumple and cause unnecessary wear on he seatbelt. The second was a far better and more sensible idea. That model actually hooks into the seatbelt faster like a regular seatbelt, locking into place with a satisfying click, with a faster on the other end for connecting to the dog’s harness. That is where the satisfaction ends, as the dog would either easily pull the end out of the faster with only modest effort or his foot would somehow step on the release, freeing himself in the process. Useless and dangerous! At least the first type kept in your dog in the back seat. Then I found this chew-resistant nylon coated medal cord model that hooks into either your headrest or seat’s car seat anchor with a caribinar, and another hook fastner that attaches to a loop on the dog’s harness. This thing is a complete game changer. Period. It keeps my dog tethered, with no harm done to my seats, belts or fasteners.

Perfect for hooking to the car seat anchor points and then to my dogs harness in the backseat of my Toyota Tacoma. Dog has some ability to move, yet will not launch through the windshield upon a sudden stop or collision.

Heavy
I didn’t buy this for use as a seatbelt; there are better choices out there for that. I bought this as a leash extender to place between the end of our retractable leashes and the collar of a spoiled rotten little dog (I say that with all the love in the world 🙂 who likes to turn and grab his leash and take *us* for walks. But I no longer use it because it’s heavy and I don’t want his walks to be marred by the feeling of a heavy weight around his neck. This is one of several reasons I feel there are better options out there for dog seatbelts as well – our preference is for the straps made of lightweight nylon webbing with a collar hook at one end and a proper seatbelt plate that clicks into the actual seatbelt buckle at the other end. Such seatbelts are both lightweight and extremely secure. I honestly don’t even know how you’d use this thing as a seatbelt; I guess you would fasten the car’s seatbelt and then put this thing’s carabiner over the seatbelt strap? But it would still be heavy, and that’s not what we want for our doggles. So while this device may work okay, it’s not our first choice in doggy seatbelts.

This is good quality hardware. Steel cable can’t be chewd through and works as a really great pet seatbelt, I clip this to my dogs harness-vest. Keeps her in her seat, even when my dog is super excited and strains to see her favorite friends when we go visiting and gives her room enough to be comfortable. I Love this product.Hope this helps!
