Awesome sensory mats
I am not sure what some of the complaints are with these in other reviews. I think they are great. They are very practical and educational for small toddlers and/or autistic kids. Both would benefit from these cool sensory mats.They were very well thought out when they were designed.Hooks on each one if you want to hang them on a wall so the child(ren) can manipulate them right on the wall. Hang low for crawlers or a little higher for standers if you want to encourage them to stand a play/learn.The anti slip backing is great whether they are used on the floor or on a wall to keep them from sliding around. Especially if it is being used by a crawler because if they push on these they will not slide out from under them. Very smart.The grass mat is just cool. It was better in person than I expected. Pretty cool. I pulled on the grass and for the most part it hold up well but I did get one piece that easily pulled out – so I would not leave a young child or autistic child alone with this.The rest are all nice and soft and the little animals velcro right on the top portion of them. All self explanatory really (some people said there were no instructions but none are needed). The pig has more of a flat, leathery feel, the horse has cool long hair, the sheep is like a sheep – wool-ish, and the rest are all the same soft material in the corresponding colors and cow print.I think it is a fantastic set. Educational and interactive. Very well thought out to the last detail of the hooks and anti-skid backs. Great job. Highly recommend.

I guess I thought they would be more realistic BUT I am not displeased with them. My students like them. I just expected something different.

Textured play mats and animal shapes
These came in a very nice box. I was impressed with how large the mats are and with how well made each mat’s texture is. these are not skimpy at all.The animal shapes are cute. Through the backside of them you can see the design on the other side, so it almost looks liek they are dirty, but they are not.Animals can be matched with textures and attached with velcro.I got these for my 14 month old grandson to play with when he comes to visit. I know he can feel them, turn them over, look at them, and at some stage attached the animals, but I kind of wish that there was an insert in the box listing ideas of how to use these to engage toddlers as well as older autistic children. Do you just hand them to the child and see what he or she does or are there specific activities that we can do together? For me, that is what is missing (although I did not take off a star for that. These mats and animals are so well made, that that’s all that came into consideration for the star rating.)

Not something I feel children would play with much
DreamDash 7pc Farm Animal Sensory Play Mats for Toddlers/Autistic Children; Tactile Sensory Toys for Babies; Sensory Wall/Floor Tiles; Autism Classroom, Daycare Essentials; Sensory Rugs, Pads, BoardsI ran a daycare for over 21 years and this is not something the children would like much. The animals are cute and well-made on their own and may be played with in that way. If it was one large sensory board where you could stick the animals wherever you want, that would be more entertaining. With this set, you can only place the animals at the velcro strip at the top of the pads. The pads are also nice and well made, however they would be best as a large book where children could feel the different textures on each page. I don’t understand the non-slip backing. I don’t see children standing on these on a hardwood or tile floor where you would need that type of backing. I don’t understand the purpose. I also don’t understand the purpose of the loop to hang these. I’ll pass.

Great to develop touch sensory
There are 7 pads that stimulate the texture of the skin/fur/etc of a pig. horse, cow, sheep, rabbit, duck and grass. Each of the animals has a velcro picture of the animal to attach to the sensory pad. The grass mat does not have any velcro. Everything except the grass is a soft material. The grass is not rough on the skin, it is like artificial turf. The grass does not come out of the mat when pulled so I don’t have to worry about a little one accidentally pulling it out and eating.The back of each pad is felt material with silicone dots to prevent it from slipping easily. Each of the pads also has a hook. The edges of the pads are sewn together. No fraying of material.The materials when immediately removing from the box have a synthetic odor that goes away after allowing the items to ventilate.No cleaning instructions.

Fun for the Littles
These DreamDash 7pc Farm Animal Sensory Play Mats have been a great addition to our homeschool sessions with the little ones.I like to pair a mat and animal with a book that we read each week. We can play with the animal, talk about the textures on the mat, and the books come alive for them.It’s so fun to see them acting out the stories that we have read, even weeks later!
