This one works!
I ordered two other nail grinders from Amazon before I found this one. Unlike the others, it works! I used this device straight out of the box to grind my dogs’ nails at least three or four times before it required a charge. I don’t know how long it took to charge because I plugged it in and went to bed. It was fully charged when I got up the next morning.*PROS: quiet on both settings and powerful even on the low setting.* It’s surprisingly quiet–MUCH quieter than my husband’s electric Wahl beard trimmer, for example–and it doesn’t frighten any of my animals. I use it without the guard so I can get around the pads of their feet and between their toes more easily. We have five dogs that range from 12 lbs. to 45 lbs. and I’ve used it on all of them, even the blind ones. My Tibetan terrier HATES having her feet messed with and tries to set teeth in me, so I can only do one nail at a time with her right now, but it grinds quickly even on the lower setting, so she doesn’t have to tolerate it for very long.NOTE: It is important to immobilize the nail you’re grinding. If you simply touch this grinder to a nail, the nail will skip along the surface, which is painful and scary to the animal. I recommend holding the grinder still and maneuvering the nail against it until you get the nail ground down enough to round off the edges. Then hold the nail still and maneuver the grinder to get smooth edges.*CONS: Gets hot with use.* It does get hot to the touch after about 5-6 minutes of constant use, especially outside in Texas heat, so I either do one paw quickly and then let it cool before I start another one or I turn it off for a few seconds between nails. My pitbull mix has really hard nails that take a bit to grind down. She’s chill so I just turn it off for a minute before I start another nail while she lies there looking pathetic. If you start getting past the pulp close to the quick and the grinder is too hot, they start to pull their paws away. I have not burnt or quicked any of them with this grinder. It’s pretty foolproof. *PROS: Works on hard nails. Nearly impossible to quick a nail.**CONS: Will rip out hair (yours or theirs).* It will rip out a chunk of hair in a blink if you get it too close to their fur when they’re wiggling around (Oops! Only happened once…) or if you are holding the device too close to your own hair. However, I love that I can round off the ends of their nails because they all like to stand up and stretch along my legs while I have shorts on. No more scratch marks! *PROS: Easily grinds down sharp edges.**CONS: Smells bad.* I’ve seen folks complain about the smell when you’re grinding nails. It’s true–it does stink. It smells like burning organic matter (like, hello?) and it leaves dust everywhere, including your clothing and anything near where you’re grinding, like furniture or carpet. I don’t grind with a mask on, but I do it outdoors and I wear glasses to keep the dust bits from flying into my eyes. I highly recommend keeping your mouth closed. That stuff is nasty if you inadvertently inhale it. Ask me how I know…but it’s worth it to be able to groom nails without having to pay $20 a dog every time or risk quicking them with a nail trimmer.BOTTOM LINE: IT WORKS AND IT SAVES MONEY. I highly recommend this grinder. I might even start using it on my own nails…

Great purchase!
Quiet, grinds well, very simple to use. Finally able to consistently keep up with my dogs nails. They are not fond of nail time however this seems to bother them the least. Works well with 100+ lb mix breed with black nails that are terrifying to cut, medium pitbull who is not a fan nail trims and gentle enough for small shi tzu/terrier mix. Able to quickly grind down and smooth their nails without much noise or vibration, usb rechargeable, plenty of power, totally worth the price.

Good but..
It’s great on terms of grinding the nail without much friction so it won’t scare your dog. My dog was pretty calm and didn’t mind. And it does grind the nail soft after cutting and make it really smooth. My only complaint is that the nail dust from all the grinding goes everywhere and I ended up sneezing idk how many times. You need a mask when grinding if you don’t want to inhale it and a mini vacuum next to you so you can vacuum the area afterwards.

Easy to use
This nail grinder is very easy to use and works great. No worries about cutting your dog’s nail to short and the nail bleeds. No need to file sharp edges after cutting. Dog’s nail is smooth and rounded.(If you do your part correctly!)Seems to run a long time between charges. I haven’t run out of power yet.Even though the grinder is quiet, it will help your pup if you can get them used to the grinder’s whine before using. You can do your dog’s nails more often. This makes the job easier on you and the dog.If you can do your dog’s nails with a nail trimmer, this will be a welcome change for both of you.

Pleasantly Surprised!!!
My previous canine nail trimmer was a bust. Not enough power, super noisy, crappy sandpaper discs. This one is none of that. I waited a bit to review as I wanted to make sure it really, truly worked. I have a 45 lb. dog and I want those toes short and buffed. The power is more than adequate, the USB charging works fine, the battery holds out of all four paws and beyond (multiple trimmings), and the rotary diamond head is nothing short of great. To be sure, this dog of mine will never like getting her nails done but it makes the job infinitely easier on me, my back, and my wallet. The results are STELLAR. Color me impressed!!!!

Nail Clipping Challenges not the Clipper but the dog
My new pup didn’t like her nails being clipped. I thought this would help. The device was easy to hold and worked as advertised. But I was wrong as to the cause of the issue of her not wanting her nails clipped. The trimmer’s sound made her crazy. I ended up giving up and returning to use the original manual clippers. The trick I found was to feed her baby carrots while clipping. She has to focus enough on the chewing of the carrots, that she doesn’t object as much that her nails are being clipped.

The best!
I wish I had found this nail grinder sooner! I’ve been a professional groomer for thirty-seven years, so I have been through many nail grinders. Some of them were good, and some mediocre. When my last Dremel finally died, I was looking for a nail grinder that was smaller and lighter, since I specialize in toy breeds exclusively. Years ago I had an Andis grinder, that was smaller and used the diamond stones, instead of the sanding drums. After looking here on Amazon, I chose this one, and also purchased extra grinding stones. I am extremely pleased with this purchase. It is very light weight, fits my hand perfectly, is quiet, and gets the job done faster than the last couple of grinders I’ve had. The dogs tolerate it much better, as well! I am going to purchase a couple more, to have on hand. If I could give this product more than five stars, I would. Whether you are a professional groomer, or you take care of your dogs nails at home, I highly recommend this product!

Based on price and expectations this grinder is a great buy. I showed it to my mini dachshund many times and started with the back feet, one nail a day. He isn’t afraid of it but we distract him with peanut butter to do many nails in one sitting. It is quiet and well made. I stabilize each nail so vibration is minimized.
