Challenging & fun! (updated)
Adding an update, 4/9/22. I have both “Poker Box” versions. For the first time, I moved elements from the one Poker Box to the other Poker Box. It was as if my dog had a whole new game. Up to now, he knew exactly what to pull, push, lift. The different look slowed him down & he had to think it through again. LOVE THIS adaptability! Original review: Purchased this before manning a booth at a 4 day dog show with my dogs. When my dogs got bored, we brought out this box and after a couple of reps, the dogs were calmer and focused – and no longer bored. I love the fact it can be easily cleaned, it is quite sturdy, and it isn’t super-easy / mindless. They have to actually figure out how to open each section. You can rearrange so it is in different order, or use as individual pieces. We often had other people stop with their dogs to check it out and ask where we got it. Very popular! Down side, the knobbed cover seems to attact chewing, so be aware of that. Definitely worth the 5 stars!

Awesome fun for dog brains
My dogs love working these puzzle boxes. We use them as a training reward, and this really helps keep the dogs engaged waiting for a release to go get a treat from the puzzles. The boxes are fairly strong, but can be knocked apart by an overly enthusiastic dog. Easily put back together, however. I am impressed at the overall quality and durability; we use them outside as well as indoors, and I also throw them in the car for offsite training. And it’s amazing to me that the pull-strings used on two of the puzzle boxes have remained intact despite multiple dogs using them to get to their treats inside. [I would not leave them with dogs unattended – they’re not chew toys despite how attractive the hard plastic may be to a dog’s teeth. 🙂 ]

Great way to keep your puppy occupied.
The toy is great! My puppy spent hours working on it and it gives me at least 30 minutes of time to do work. The boxes themselves are durable however my puppy chewed up and destroy the strings within a week. It is easy to clean. I just wipe them down after every use with wipes. The strings aren’t hard to replace. I love how the boxes all have little holes on top where my puppy can smell the treats.

Impressed!
This is a really well designed puzzle! You can switch the boxes around to make them face other sides and you can change their placement. Each challenge is distinctly different. I never thought she’d get the pull out box, but surprisingly she got that one easily. She had the hardest time with the box that has the knob – it took her a while to figure out that she had to slide the top out. The boxes are pretty easy to clean, since they all slide out of the base. One of the things that impresses me the most is that it’s virtually impossible to ‘cheat’. She tried to chew her way through each challenge at first, but there’s really no way she could grasp the sides or top of them with her teeth. I suppose a dog might shake the boxes to cheat, but it’s pretty sturdy, and the boxes sit firmly in the sliders. Every time I give it to her I can tell that she’s remembering that she’s encountered the challenge before and trying to recall how she mastered it. I probably need to get another one or two so I can switch them around for a few days. I’m pretty impressed so far! (By the way I have another dog who looked at it curiously and then sat down next to it and waited for me to give her a treat. Clearly this doesn’t work for non-food motivated dogs!)

Great Training
This is perfect for Barn Hunt teaining. It teaches dogs to use its paws to open the chambers. A couple tries and they get the concept.

READ If You’re Worried About Constrution
It depends on your dog but definitely worth the purpose.Long-story-short, we have a mutt. 25% Labrador Retriever. Then it gets weird. We’ve always had goldens. She is as smart as a golden. First time I used it it took her two minutes to open the first compartment. Another one minute to open the next. Thirty more seconds for the third. The fourth she got in seconds. So I am buying a Level Three toy. I still use this one but she’s just distracted for only about ten minutes. I’ve started using Scotch tape and little shims to make the doors harder to openI am VERY frustrated with the reviews that questioned the durability. Trying to not be mean but it’s just a stupid comment. The manufacturer did a VERY nice job with construction. This is a SUPERVISED toy, not one to toss on the ground and leave for a weekend. THAT is just being stupid. If they made the box pitfall proof it would have cost three times and much needlessly.

Super fun, even for hoomans!
I honestly really think I have as much fun with this as my dog does. We use it almost every other day and while it is an easy puzzle to figure out for my smart k9 buddy, it has stumped him at times. Of course he quickly figures it out and acts like he knew the proper way to slide the lid anyway. One tip I found very helpful was to rotate the unit a few times after first use. My dog found that a bit more challenging (at first) and really loved it. He loves the rewards and I’m very impressed with the quality of this unit. It cleans very easy and has held up to his scratches!

Great puzzle, just not very durable
I have never used any sort of puzzle like this for my dog in the past, but he has been having a lot of gastro issues possibly from eating too quickly lately. I expected it to take him awhile to figure out, but he figured it out so quickly. I was disappointed by this, but thatâs not necessarily due to the productâs quality. What I didnât like about the quality, however, was itâs durability. My dog paws at things a lot to try to figure them out (staffie mix), so the boxes already have scrape marks on them just from one use.Overall, I am happy with this product and will continue to use it. I think itâs a thoughtful design and I really like that the compartments are large enough to use for his food and not just treats. If you have a dog that isnât so rough, Iâd definitely recommend it.

Colour is a lot darker than in the photo. Mine is more burgundy and darker orange. However, the colour isn’t what attracted me to the product. My dogs won’t be testing this until Christmas morning, but it is great for the adventurous types!Of course, NEVER leave a dog unattended with toys! These are plastics and no plastic is durable for a chewer. No one should ever expect plastic toys to last chewing dogs. These toys require training, just like a child needs to be taught how to be gentle with toys, so should a dog. Discourage chewing behaviour. Take away the toy when the treats are finished or if the dog becomes too discouraged the first few times, assist in showing how to get the treats out.The product is great. I like how easy it will be to clean since each box can be removed (that’s what the two screw knobs are for, so they can slide out). Good quality and I cannot wait for Christmas morning!!! Also a great size for medium-large dogs. Well, any size dogs really, besides massive ones whose mouths are as big as a person’s head, haha. They may have difficulty picking up the parts and getting their noses into the boxes. Besides that, give it a try! I was surprised with how quickly it shipped from UK to Canada! Especially with the postal strikes; I must be lucky haha.
