My big, shedding, drooling Saint Bernard Mix is almost never allowed in the car because it’s a really gross experience, but he does love to go for rides and to the dog park, which is not walking distance from our home. This seat cover is amazing. It fits the backseat of our Subaru Forester very well, and the partition that goes up the back of the front seats keeps him from climbing into the front.Our other car is a Kia Telluride with captains chairs in the second row, so this doesn’t work if you have that sort of set up. I tried it – doesn’t function the same for a big pooch, without that middle support. But I didn’t expect it to.A must have for dog owners who aren’t willing to sacrifice their cars!

Backup seat cover, plus alternative (non-dog) uses
This hammock-style rear seat cover features quilted material, synthetic faux leather accents, and webbing straps and binding. It is very light and compact when folded. This is positive if you plan to keep in stored in your car or garage, but also may point to less durability and lower quality materials than other seat covers. For comparison, other similar seat covers I have used are at least four times the volume when folded. The material of this cover is multilayer black plastic/PVC with a softer, fiber/paper-like front side and a smooth, shiny back side. The description says it is non-slip on the back, but this was not obvious and I did not find this to be effective. The front has a weave to it meant to be scratch resistant, but since the material is thin I think dog toenails likely would be able to damage the surface. Some positive features I appreciate include velcro slits to attach the cover at the seat or fit seatbelts through, seat anchors, as well as a storage pocket. There also are zippers at the sides so you can fit the side panels down or up in a bucket shape. This cover fit in my SUV but was too small overall, and not tall enough to cover the full seat backs. Additionally, it does not have a “split” option where you can have it installed in part of the back seat while leaving part of the seat open for a human to sit. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable having my dogs sitting or lying on this for a long period of time since it is thin plastic material, and could be irritating to their skin. I think it would be fine for short/occasional use, or as a backup seat cover, or with a blanket or towel covering it. While I probably won’t use this for my dogs, I likely will have use for this cover to protect my car rear seat and/or trunk when I am carrying dirty or potentially leaky items, such as for trips to the garden center, dirty clothes or sports equipment, recycling/trash, or packaged food/beverages. It is advertised as machine washable which is a plus. It also could be used as a soft container to hold unwieldy items in place in the car, such as bags of clothes.

Must have if you have a shedder
The cover is a very good size definitely for larger sedans and suvs. I like that the bottom has a sort of grippy texture to help keep it in place and that it has the straps. I also really like how it has a pocket. This is a good cover for any fur baby that’s a shredder like my lab.

This dog car cover is very well made and fits my SUV very well. My dog is comfortable, does not slide, and installation was easy. I can easily wipe down the cover as well.
