The down side is the internals do not hold up well. Still I like the overall user friendly for dog walks.

Best leash ever!
Love this leash so much. Very durable. My furbaby spooked and I lost hold of leash (its easy to hold tho i must say) and it hit the ground like 20 times real hard as my baby ran. I thought for sure would need a new one but was able just to slide flashlight and bag holder right back so its very sturdy and durable. Light shines bright on your baby and shines around too. Plus for bag holder.

Fabric line doesn’t leave friction burns
Bought this because our dog runs in circles. Traditional retractables tend to burn my wife’s legs, arms and hands if he runs around her. The material for the ‘cord’ is a satinish fabric that doesn’t leave rope burns. The bag dispenser isn’t compatible with the cheepo bags we buy and it binds up. I’ve tried modifying to make it work better but it still doesn’t work well. We will continue to use as the non-rope burn fabric more than makes up for the dispenser. The flat fabric doesn’t retract at an angle so you always have to have it pointed at the dog. Still, pretty satisfied.

The leash doesn’t last
This leash only lasted 6 months as the retraction spring gave out and its not repairable, and my dog is just a little 15 pounder.I liked the unit but can’t be buying a new one every 6 months. The retraction spring gave out and its not repairable.I expected a bit more from Coleman. Better stick to camp stoves!

Do not recommend.
The leash is useful when it works. Therein lies the problem. Ordered 2 of them (we have two dogs) mid-August and 1 arrived with parts missing. Returned that one and ordered another. It is now 4 months later and another one has failed. Part of the leash locking mechanism is broken and rattling around inside. Of course the lock no longer works. It is no longer returnable so I’m out the cost.Appears there is a lack of both quality of design/manufacter and quality control prior to shipping.I would recommend staying away from this item.Updated 1/27/17Further information – the leash locking mechanism is made of plastic and after a few months of use, the plastic parts on both of the units I purchased have broken causing the locking mechanism to cease to function. One broke off completely and is rattling around in the round leash reel housing as mentioned above. The second one broke with it in the locked position with the leash fully extended. It would not unlock. That one I had to use a small screwdriver to release it from the locked position. It now no longer locks. But at least that’s better than not having the leash reel in. The locking mechanism can be accessed through a hole underneath the light by pulling the light towards the back and sliding it off.A second leash has had the part which was missing on one of the first two fall off. It is on the bag roll assembly. The leashes still actually function, but no longer can be locked. The button must be held down to stop the leash from reeling out all the way when wanted.On the plus side, the lights work well.

Love this leash
I love this leash. I have another retractable leash that I use during the day – it has a cord instead of the tape, which retracts easier. But this one with the tape works okay too, you just have to pull on the tape a little sometimes and it retracts. But I love the flashlight being attached to the leash handle – I hate using plastic bags to pick up my dog’s poop, so I carry a “jaws” type pooper scooper with me (it’s so much easier than the bags!). With the flashlight attached to the leash, I can find the poop in the dark, and also have a hand free to work the pooper scooper. Of course, it’s also nice to be able to see where I’m going!Definitely recommend.

Just okay
This feels like lightweight, cheap plastic, and the flashlight is not very bright. The leash does not have any elastic near the end of the lead like my old one. This helped if the dog took off running, and it hit the end. I also think it is more comfortable for the dog. I did like that it had the attached container to hold waste bags.

Best Combo Leash
Iâve used several retractable leashes and this one is my favorite. The retractable mechanism works great as well as the lock. The light and bag holder stay in place and donât fall off, which has been a problem with other brands. Iâve had 3 of these and they last 2+ years and for the price itâs a deal!

Great idea but sticky lock button which requires force & 2 hands to engage. Not good as often you need lock quickly & easily. One can do without the bag dispenser and even the light, but the lock is important! Not happy with performance.
