toxic smell
I don’t what causes it to smell so bad. unboxed the unit and placed it in a room with ceiling fan on high. hoping to air it out, but no effect. it still smells so strong of toxic plastic odor. it smells so bad my cats will not go anywhere near it. warning to others, don’t buy this litter box, the odor will not go away.

Multiple concerns about durability; Might be good if need in emergency but not sure it will last
While the Royalay Portable Cat Travel Litter Box with Zipped Lid might work well in a pinch, I have concerns about how long it will last. Its snaps take extra effort to snap, but then it’s like they are stuck closed. I kept pulling, trying to unsnap them, and I was sure I was going to rip the material if I kept trying to unsnap them so I stopped. When this occurred for the first snap I tested, I tested another snap and it has the same issue. Very disappointed since I feel like I can’t unsnap the snaps without damaging the product.
In addition, even though the sides of the litter box are solid, the bottom of it feels like it is just 2 layers of material. I understand this might be necessary so the litter box is fold-able, but the material does not seem very durable. Especially since a cat’s claws will be scratching it, hopefully it won’t tear too easily. I will need to make sure I put plenty of litter in it to stabilize the bottom because I don’t think my cat will use it when the bottom is moveable and not sturdy.
On the positive side, to put it together, just pull open the velcro strips and insert the rods. The velcro strips hide the rod openings well and then also seal well to hold them in place.

Pretty nice
I love everything about this except that there are no supports to keep the top from caving in. My cats love to lounge on top of this like they do their other litter boxes and that makes it impossible for them to enter through the doorway. Other than that, I love it. It was easy to set up. I carry this in my car every time I travel with my kitten. The litter mat works nicely too.
