My 4yr old loves this!!!
MY 4yr old ASD child LOVES this!!!!!He would lay and sit on it for a very long time rubbing on it with his whole body and smiles so big that it melts my heart. built well and I can see it lasting a long time.

Made the purchase for my 16 month old. Placed it in my his playpen for independent play, but when the Occupational Therapist comes in she takes them apart for one on one use. There are 12 tiles with different textures, the colors are bright and fun. Canât really comment on durability or how to clean them because I just got them but they seems to be of good quality and worth the price.

Put these in our sensory room in our ABA clinic. The kids like them. A few of the textured squares are pretty similar to each other. It would be nice to have some more variety.

Love the textural contrast that you can do
I got these for my kiddo that is on the spectrum and nonverbal which leads to a different set of challenges at times. Sensory mats are basically a tool for when the frustration is escalating and calm input is needed. I was hoping these sensory mats would provide that and thankfully, these didnât fail me. The large size of each tile provides a lot of area coverage when you lay down all 12. Each arrived new but, a few needed the cutout strip at the edges removed. Love the various tactile input you get with these. Youâre able to make textural contrasts with placing a smooth mat directly beside a rough mat. Mats themselves are thick and durable. Connecting one to another is easily done. When I first got these out the first thing my kiddo did was smell them and they usually donât smell something unless it has truly captured their attention and itâs an odd smell. This made me smell the mats and a few did smell kinda odd, no idea what it was but it did go away. Overall, even when the temporary scent they have been well worth it.

These Didn’t Work for Me
I love the idea of the sensory mat. I thought these looked really neat! I thought maybe my grandchildren would enjoy sitting on the mat, touching the different textures. But… what can I say? Maybe my grands are too old for this activity? They are 17, 11, 9, 8, 7, 5, and 4. I thought at least the five and four year old would use it. But all the boys wanted to do was fling the square pieces across the room like ninja throwing stars. I will be donating my sensory mat to a deserving day care home.As far as the mat goes, though, I think it is very well made. It is sturdy, and colorful, and I love all the different textures! Hm… maybe I should put it in MY bedroom!If you have a very young child- an infant or toddler – or a child with sensory needs, then this is a great thing to have.

Quality mats
The only ‘negative’ thing I have to say about these is the smell of them initially when taking them out of the bag. However, there are a nice variety of textures and the mats fit well/are flush with one another.

I ordered these to use in my kitchen to temporarily cover a damaged floor, not for their intended purpose, but I can say they’re as pictured and the mats fit together nicely.
