entertaining for the cats
it definitely caught my cats attention when I first turned the power on and put the ball in front of them -There is a little furry band that wraps around the ball that makes it a bit more interesting to the cats. The ball blinked and scooted around the room bounding off the walls and redirecting. When the cats started to loose interest in that activity then I put the ball into the plastic bag. They definitely enjoyed pouncing on the bag as the ball moved and glowed under the plastic fabric. Kind of how they attack your feet under the covers in bed. The ball eventually turns itself off on its own. So the cats like it for a while then get bored. It is best to let them play with it for a while then put it away so they will get excited when it comes out again for another play session. It will be a reliable distraction for about 15 minutes. I removed one star because it is difficult to find the opening n the bag to put the ball in and out of the bag – i finally got smart and marked it myself with some pink duct tape.

USB-C rechargeable, self-initiating play, highly attractive even to my skittish cat!
My cat is absolutely fascinated by the sight and sound of this interactive chasing toy. It’s basically a light-up, silicone-covered wheel that goes forwards and backwards, it can have a headband with ears and a tail attached to an outer frame and it can be used inside of the included nylon/polyester bag. While the product page indicates “chirping” noise, the only noise I hear is from the motor – which my cat actually likes, because it is high pitched and squeaky. It has one button to operate, and it’s rechargeable via the included USB-C cord. There are 3 modes accessed via long presses of the power button; blue is fast, purple is less fast, and yellow I don’t know the name of but I think of it as shy mode. It will start back up on its own if it’s been under 30 minutes or something since it was last used, but you do have to manually turn it on initially. It works well on bare floors, and low and medium pile carpet, but not high or shag.Anyway, the toy will start running around randomly, changing direction when it detects it’s stopped moving, and it does a pretty good job of getting itself unstuck from obstacles and not getting trapped too easily. The hustle and bustle was a little too much for my cat initially, so I put it in the bag on the yellow mode, where it basically sat there vibrating and blinking until she was worked up enough to start playing with it. She loved it in the predictable bounds of the bag, and eventually gained the courage to appreciate it outside of the bag as well, it’s been a total hit with her.My cat loves interactive toys but I hate dealing with button batteries, so we are both very happy with this toy. I think $25 is about what it’s worth and I’d recommend it to people with cats that like chasing toys with lights and quick, erratic back-and-forth movements, and cats that prefer to play on their own instead of with people.

Wheel toy works, hiding sheet disappointing
The wheel toy works fine, though I did have trouble charging it using anything other than a phone wall charger (wouldn’t charge well from any other usb based cable, it needed a wall plug). The cloth around the ring of the toy goes on and comes off easily. I have found it in many areas as our cats seem to like the fluff more than the moving toy with the tail on it.The big disappointment is in the plastic “hiding” sheet that you can put the ball into. The pictures make it look like the circular sheet will support itself in the ring shape. It does not. Once the cats pounce on it, it will become just a crumpled sheet. The hole where you put the ball inside doesn’t have anything to keep it closed, so multiple times the toy has just moved outside of the sheet after a few min.

USB cord did not work; the ball is cool!
Let’s go from bad to good:The USB cord provided did not charge the unit, so that’s in the trash (2 of us tried it at our respective houses, with different adapters). Fortunately, the unit charges just fine with the USB cord I use to charge my cell phone.The bag provided is pleasantly larger than I expected. When I put the ball in it, the cats took a little interest in it but not nearly as much as letting the ball just run in the wild.The bunny ears were fairly easy to slide on, but, as soon as I let the ball loose, they fell off.Initially we let the ball run in the wild inside a house with no cats. We were laughing like crazy at its antics. It ran smoothly over tile and carpet, went under furniture, and got itself out of tight places. I later took it home and let the cats have at it – watch the video to see their reaction. The cats were more interested in it the first night, but a couple of them still follow it around after a couple days of use.I did not use the bunny tail on the ball, but 1 of my cats likes to play with the tail as-is – she keeps toting it around the house.The ball comes with 3 speeds. The video shows it on the lowest speed, which seems to work best for the cats. The higher speeds are great when humans are watching the ball.My main issue is, when I let the ball run wild and don’t keep track of it, I have a hard time finding it after it stops running because it can go just about anywhere!Per the instructions on the back of the box, be sure to clean out the cat fur, dust bunnies, carpet shreds, etc. that get stuck in the unit. I clean it out each time I charge it – it only takes a minute.And per the description, you do need to provide your own adapter.

Unfortunately does not work
I was excited about this toy- my cat loves toys that hide under blankets – The first item I ordered did not work- the mechanical ball would not charge or turn on. I received a replacement quickly, but unfortunately, the replacement had the same issue- would not charge at all. I tried three different chargers and it would not turn on no matter how long I tried charging it. If the mechanical ball part worked, it would be a great toy!
