    Preferred over machine pump
I produced a lot with my first baby and at five months pumped exclusively, making a gallon a day and using a Medela pump until after he was a year. It was very hard on me (I suffered an injury from it), but I supplied enough for him and two other babies. After all of that, I committed to exclusively breastfeed my second baby, but I (along with my midwife) realized I had to pump to keep mastitis at bay because of overproduction that wouldn’t just regulate itself. I didn’t want to increase my supply, on the other hand, but only “take the edge off”. So, I bought this, and it worked perfectly. I was able to control pressure and output so easily. It made everything effortless, and even though I still made about double what I needed, it was so much easier than dragging the mechanical pump out with all its parts (then cleaning them). I actually found I let down then cleared out more easily/thoroughly than before. This pump is simple/easy to clean, and I could operate it while multitasking even. I used the big glass bottles with it.I did/do have a big supply, and I could pump a bottle in a minute or two—perhaps this is why I had much success with this pump. I gave mine to a friend who had the same experience though, and I still recommend this to anyone who asks.

    Do not buy!!
The ad is false. This pump does not fit the spectra wide mouth bottles that come with the wall pump. I could tell without opening the package. The ad stated it could be returned if the package was unopened. I could not return via Amazon and spectra does not answer the phone or emails. Don’t waste your time with this one

    Just okay
Decent suction but cheaply made. Constantly falling apart while trying to use. 😅

    Cumbersome, but well-made and comfortable
I’ve tried several different manual pumps, and I like this one the best. It is the most comfortable and seems like it is holding up really well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is difficult to position and maintain suction using only one hand when the massager is attached, and it has more pieces than others when you take it apart to clean it. Even without the massager it is still the most comfortable, just takes some getting used to. I prefer the hand positioning on the Ameda hand pump, but I broke 3 of those over time because the design fatigues the flexible plastic until it breaks at the pivot point, and it’s not as comfortable as the Spectra.

    Not a Regular Spectra Bottle
I was really disappointed to open the package and see that the bottle is not the standard wide mouth spectra bottle. I purchased this pump specifically to help reduce the amount of different pump parts I needed to take care of when my babies arrive, as my electric pump is a spectra and I have the bottles and parts already on hand. I had a lansinoh manual pump with my last baby and the plastic pieces seem cheaply made in comparison. It seems to function just fine but I’ll be curious to see how it holds up over time.

    Perfect for my needs.
I bought another one of these pumps so I can have one for the day and night. This pump actually has excellent suction and compared to my electric pump it takes much less time and is way more efficient for me. Regardless of maintaining my electric pump as the manual told me and buying extra accessories and supplies to maintain proper suction, it just wasn’t working out.I found it took 40 to 60 minutes to get just 2 or 3 oz (with massaging) – even between 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.; the prime time for pumping! I’ve been pumping every 2 or 3 hours, consistently, for 2 months now; I knew I had more than that and I was sure the electric pump was tanking my supply. Two or 3 oz per session is not enough to start any kind of freezer supply, let alone staying comfortably ahead of her feeding needs, especially when she goes through a couple of days of cluster feeding and growth spurts where she sucks down 3.5 oz every other feed. With the Spectra pump, however, I’ve been getting 5 to 6 oz in just 20-25 minutes (per session), my lowest is 4oz (per session) in the middle of the afternoon – which is normal; especially since it’s hot as Hades out here at the moment and it’s a bit harder to stay properly hydrated. This pump was just a way better match for me. Also, I’ve found out this pump head also screws onto other bottles (Medela pump, Evenflo 8oz glass, and Dr.Browns standard bottles). However, keep in mind that the flange only comes in one size, so you may need to couple this pump with something like Pumpin’ Pals or other comfort flanges to meet your own personal needs.

    Garbage
Terrible, cheap quality. Doesn’t work well. I tried it bc one review said might be good for downward facing nipples. It’s not. Get any other manual pump.

    It worked great for me!
I have trouble with an electric pump even, but was in dire need of something quiet that I could use on the go when I was away from my babe for a trip. I was nervous about it not working well enough or being too noticeable, but it was small enough to through in my big purse and easy and quiet to use. It has great suction! some raters said it was too much it was painful, but it wasn’t for me. And as someone that has trouble expressing milk with an electric pump where I can control the settings I was pleasantly surprised at how well I could with this little gem. Definitely worth the money. I only used it for the one trip, so I can’t comment on long term use, but for this low of a price it’s worth it to me, and seems to be really well made. I had no trouble with cleaning, and loved the rubber insert that some women complained about. It’s all how it works for you I guess.
