Excellent Tool for Thick Tough Nails
I bought this for my German Shepherd’s thick strong nails. This tool is absolutely invaluable for his, and my other 2 dogs nail care. The size is perfect and easy to manage for me, as I have small hands, and has a nice balanced weight to it. It comes with a removable guard, which I had to remove the first few times for my German Shepherd’s thick nails, but my other 2 dogs nails fit fine with the guard on. The 2 different speed settings are great options for a little shaping or a more intense trim. The lights are a great touch! I like that I can use the lights without having the grinder on, which I use to help me out when I use my clippers. I am able to see their quick so much easier to ensure a safe and comfortable trim for them. I also appreciate it being pretty quiet. This tool works great and makes nail time easier and faster for myself and my 3 dogs. I wish I would have bought it sooner.

It works EXCATLY as it is meant too..
The noise level of this item isn’t entirely all that -quiet- as advertised but it is low. Now when it comes to devices like this for your companion may need some time to be introduced to it. I bought this for my brothers boston terrier (I’m pet sitting for a while), he’s a large boston terrier so his paws are alot bigger then normal and his nails are thick. But I still can use the small size or switch to the medium when needed of the nail filer/grinder. He has been trained to allow nail trimming but I wanted to try this out as I’m not comfortable using a nail trimmer.I first started with pretending I was doing his nails, just to see how he would react. I didn’t have it on, I just acted like I was filing which he was fine with. If your companion pulls away even without it on, you have to SLOWLY introduce it for your pet to realize it doesn’t hurt and to build their confidence with it. If you have to start basic to teach them “give me paw” to get use to you touching their paws, cause some pets don’t like their paws touched and that’s where it stems off of from them not accepting the nail grinder. But you may have to start there to teach your pet the simple trick. It will take time and patience to get your dog use to their paws touched. If not, you know your pet. If you feel confident that they will accept this device easy. Then sure go for it but you might want to show how it feels. So since my brothers boston terrier was fine with the device (since I had it off) I then turned it on but I didn’t use the grinder yet. I just let him feel the vibration by placing the nail grinder device on his paws so he can feel it. (I had the cap still on, so all he felt was just the vibration) Your pet, as well as mine never felt anything vibrating on their paws. And it did feel strange to him as he pulled his paw away as I expected. So for a few days I pretended to file his nails with the device on, to get him use to the vibration and the noise that eventually he didn’t pull his paw away.Eventually came the true test. To file his nails. I at first tried it out while I was bathing him. He stays still more when getting a bath and filing his nails he still pulled his paw away a couple of times as the sensation still is weird and now it’s traveling up his nail. I couldn’t get a good angle since he’s in the tub so I decided to finish the bath and get him out of the tub. I placed him on my bed so I’m at a better level to get to his nails. He laid down and was pretty much dozing off as he snored away. And I started filing his nails with the device and he did not even wake up or budge. His SNORES were louder then the nail grind device lol.So I got all his nails done from front to back. It’s a SLOW process. You have to go little at a time with filing. And it makes a funny smell, it’s due to the nail being grinded so theirs a lil smoke but that’s NORMAL! Your dog isn’t going to burn and you just go little at a time to ensure you won’t hurt your dog. The lights are awesome as I can see his quick, thank god his nails are white as most bostons have black nails. It took about 30 mins to get all his nails, since they were not trimmed for a long WHILE. Some nails were short and others way to long. And I only filed as much as I felt comfortable that they were short enough. I personally didn’t want to get to close to the quick, so I left them a little long but the nails aren’t Freddy Kruger long as before and now he walks better.Soooo I probably MAYBE could of skipped some steps of introducing it to him, he’s not my dog and I don’t know everything about him but I am now that he’s staying with me. I didn’t want to scare him, cause some dogs you can go right to grinding while they are distracted with eating or sleeping and you have NO problem filing their nails. Some dogs are just like that which is awesome! You know your dog best after all. And I’m learning what my brothers dog will allow and won’t allow. So far he has been trained really well by my brother and his wife. He let’s me clean his ears, touch his paws, bathe him. The only thing he doesn’t like to be messed with is his face being cleaned to clean out any eye gunk caught in his face wrinkles lol. But he doesn’t bite or anything so I clean his face while he squirms a bit. So I probably could of just filed his nails without issue while he slept lol. But I didn’t know how he would respond to it and maybe with taking my time about it, he felt comfortable enough to stay asleep and let me file his nails. Next time it may not take as long to file his nails but if it does, then it does. It’s WORKING that’s all that matters lol.As for time wise with this nail grinder device it takes longer then just trimming the nails but in the end, you have smooth nails that don’t scratch compared to cutting them off with a trimmer. Also put a towel or something under your dog, it does create alot of nail dust depending on your dogs nail size. That way it’s easy to clean off by taking the towel outside and flailing it about lol. Or just whatever method you want to use that is easiest for you.So for those not sure how your dog will take to this item, just go with steps that you know is best for your dog to slowly introduce. You can either follow my steps or your own, so long as in the end your pet isn’t afraid when it’s in use. Some dogs just need time to get use to their paws being touched before even using this nail grinder. If you DO NOT want to go through training your dog with this, if say they freak out over any sort of nail trimming or even trying to touch their paws. This is NOT the device for you if you do not have the tools to train your dog. But it’s never to late to start and to rehabilitate your dog to learn to trust you and anything you are in need to do when it comes to grooming your dog.For fellow owners out there, you know your pet best. And this nail grinder does as it’s design for. Every pet is different and you know your pet best. I hope this review gives some insight that can help! My steps might not work for everyone as everyone has their own methods, you do what is best for your pet. I’m just writing this review to hopefully help other owners out there for their fur babies. Before I purchased this, I did read the reviews that got me to purchase this item. As for the one star reviews I didn’t take them to seriously because just some dogs will not accept it. But it doesn’t reflect on the nail grinders performance to file the nails, it still does what it’s designed for regardless if a dog rejects it. Their was one star review I read where the owner mentioned that the nail filer hurt their dog. I am just thinking, well, how hard were you pressing to file the nail? Were you pressing to hard or going softly to grind little at a time? Did they have the nail size safety cap off? Did the dog just yelp just out of reaction because some dogs are like that, they will yelp over anything because they know that will get you to stop. Their is no explanation of HOW this dog’s nail or paw got hurt from the device.Yes your pet can get hurt but that’s if your not being careful with it or using the device incorrectly, that’s going to be the result. A nail trimmer can hurt your dog to. If you so much as cut that quick, your dog is going to yelp and whine over the pain. The nail grinder is a safer way for nail maintenance but if your not comfortable with it, afraid it will hurt your pet. You can always purchase a nail file from any store and just file that way with the file stick(the file stick women use for their nails). So without further adieu, that’s my take on this nail grinder. I give it a 5 star on everything but the noise part lol. More like a three star, it’s not SUPER loud or anything but it isn’t all that quiet. I also used this device on my CATS nails. And since her nails are smaller and thinner, it grinded her nails real fast and it didn’t HURT her. I only grinded just the sharp points off and didn’t go any further. Now she has smooth nails but I’ll probably have to grind her nails more often because cat claws regrow quickly. So fellow cat owners out there, this does work on a CAT too! You just have to be extra careful cause their nails are so thin, it doesn’t take much to grind the sharp points off. I even read a review someone was able to grind their guinea pig’s nails. That’s how SAFE this device is, so long as you are CAREFUL! If your cat freaks out over getting nails trimmed or paws touched, then this device is NOT for you!

Works well enough
This does bog down a little when doing nails on a larger dog, but it still gets the job done. It is easy to clean and charges fairly quickly. I’ve read about people holding these on their dogs nails for a long time and enjoying that it sears the quick. It clearly states not to do this! That’s a good way to hurt your dog as it burns them. I only touch nails for 3 seconds and then move on to the next. It’s easy enough to come back them after giving them a break so they don’t get hot. My pups aren’t super comfortable with this even though it’s not very loud, but you may need two people to get the job done.

Worked on a fearful rescue dog!
I would give this grinder 10 stars if I could! I recently adopted a fearful, skittish rescue dog. He had super long nails, which he was always chewing and pulling on. The problem was that he hated to have his paws touched. I worked for several weeks getting him used to having his paws handled. Meanwhile his awful nails continued to grow. I tried clipping 1 nail, and he ran away. I agonized over what to do. If I took him to a groomer, it would traumatize him further, because he’s afraid of everything due to his unfortunate past. If I trimmed his nails, I could damage the trust he was beginning to build with me. Out of desperation, I decided to try this grinder based on all of the great reviews. This grinder is very quiet. I started slowly introducing it to my dog. I even ran it along his back (with the cover on) usingit like a massager. He LIKED it! He then flopped over and wanted it rubbed on his tummy! I couldn’t believe his reaction! I then ran it down his legs and rubbed his paws. Still no reaction from him. I did this process for several days. I finally touched the grinder to his nail. He was interested, but not afraid. Every time he would pull his paw away, I would turn off the grinder and give him a yummy treat. It was slow going, because his nails were so long. I did this in several sessions, so that this continued to be a positive experience for my skittish pup. I was able to complete his manicure in 1 day! I never restrained him the entire time! He still doesn’t like having his paws held, but he tolerates the grinder well.Initially it may take some time to get long nails ground down to the proper length. I now grind his nails weekly, so the sessions stay short. The LED lights are helpful. I also found that using the higher speed resulted in a smoother grinding experience. Just be sure to not hold the grinder in 1 place for a prolonged period, because the nail will heat up. I rock the grinder from side to side on the nail, and it works well. This worked miracles for my dog. His nails are now a healthy length, and we are both unharmed. Highly recommend!

This nail grinder is powerful enough to file my boxer Dobermans thick nails and gentle enough to also use on my chihuahuas nails. The light is excellent to help me see better. The dogs donât mind me using it because it is quite quiet. It is easily recharged and I can do both my dogs nails a few times or more before it needs to be recharged. Such a great purchase I canât say enough good things especially after using a different one my daughter bought and seeing how weak it was that it didnât even work. This one is very good and has worked for a long time without any issues. Saved me a lot of money from going to the groomers to have the dogs nails done. Worth it 1000%!

Excelente calidad, la baterÃa tarda en agotarse. Si hace un poquito de ruido, es por ello que a mis mascotas no les gusta y se me dificulta. Pero todo lo demás está excelente.

It’s pretty powerful, I used it even to enlarge a small silver ring.Charges pretty fast, for normal dog use, I would recomment fully charging each time as it makes all so much faster when its at max power
