Flexi is the only brand of these to buy
We have multiple Flexi “brand” dog leashes. AND we have multiple other brands…that I have taken to Goodwill. Most of ours are the 16 foot models. This is the 25 foot model.Flexi is a German brand and extremely well made and easy and reliable to operate. None of the others are like that. They all suck or break or both… I got the others mostly in an emergency where I forgot the Flexi’s. Then you leave it like in a car and think, OH good, I have a leash in the car. Then comes the time to use it and you cuss as it either hangs up in the internal mechanism or starts to come apart.Flexi’s cost more but if you have to buy two or three to last as long then what have you saved particularly since they are going to give you fits even when they sort of work. WE literally have a couple that are 15 years old. We try to have a couple in each vehicle. They have “improved” them in the last couple years, but still sell the “classic” ones like this. I prefer the old “classic” version but the new ones are OK, just a bit different in how they work and seem a bit less robust on the outer part but then again, less subject to getting banged and breaking. I think internally they are the same and that’s the important part. So, it’s personal preference. But I do find the older ones cost a bit less, in general.I found this 25 footer and it was a great deal cost wise so I bought TWO for our crazy woman 50 lb wolf looking pup rescue. That’s how good a deal it was. She needs the length although she can build up speed fast and jerk your arm chasing most anything that moves. At least with these, they don’t break when she gets to the end. You just have a hurt shoulder. It’s better than breaking and her just keeping going. Ours is a runner so this is great. So, go Flexi is my recommendation always, look for some deals like this one was around half or more LESS than the stores… But even if you gotta spend full price Flexi is worth it.

Very well made but bigger than I thought
This is my 2nd flexi leash. The first one I purchased 4 years ago. It still works fine, but is starting to fray due to taking my 55 pound labradoodle on a 2 mile walk every day rain, shine or snow. This leash is well made and operates very smoothly. I bought the large 26foot tape leash and it was bigger and heavier than I expected, but not unmanageable. The smaller cord leash was only rated up to 44 pounds so I got the bigger one to be safe. Overall I am very happy with it. If you are wondering, the harness is a “Paw Five CORE-1 Dog Harness size medium” and the patches are “U.S Navy Patch, Marine Corps Military Tactical Morale Badge Embroidered Patches”

    Holds back a 65lb pitbull 🤞
The case is big, but I guess it has to be to hold 26ft of line. It’s a good leash at an excellent price, & it’s made in Germany👏👏👏!! My only mild issue is with the slippery hard plastic handle, but again, for the amazing low price of this excellent retractable leash, I ordered it anyway knowing that I could wrap grippy medical tape on it. ( The stretchy, self-adhearing medical bandaging works nicely when wound around the clean plastic handle. The first piece of tape is still sticking nicely to the handle after 3wks. It’s a cheap & easy fix for this leashes slippery handle.)My 65 lb dog has run full-tilt to the end of this leash ( much to my displeasure, but he’s a young ding-dong of a dog yet), & this amazing leash stopped him several times! My arm is worn out from holding him back, but this leash has held strong.)It’s a darn good retractable leash. German engineering at a great price. 5 stars. Quick, free delivery to the Amazon locker too.

Some caveats when using this leash
I am on my fourth one of these leads. My dog weighs 95lbs and it gives him room for him to roam a bit on the trail.I used to use it with just his collar, but now I use it with a gentle leader. Why? because this gives me the ultimate control over him when he decides to lurch, lunge or run after something. It’s not the best way to do things, but for a dog who was easily trained to pay attention to me except when he wants to go for something, it keeps my 5’2″ frame from falling down after him.Pros: flexible length makes it easier to walk without being pulled all the time and not have to stop every few steps while dog sniffs.Cons: my dog was able to chew threw three of the leads easily with just a few quick bites. I’ve repaired several before replacing them.Caveats: Definitely use the safety collar that comes with the leash. You never know when it is going to snap and it will possibly fly toward your face when it does. This has not happened to me, but it has happened to others and is why they supply the safety collar with the lead.NEVER grab for the lead tape with your hand, especially when it is being pulled. I did. It was natural instinct. I have many times, because when he pulls and the lead is being drawn out, if you fail to push the lock down quickly enough, you will naturally try to keep it from going out with your free hand. Guess what happens? A DEEP gauge in the finger at the inner side of the knuckle. That happened to me this last week. And guess what? It has happened to many others. Just search it on google. (rope burn from dog leash)The manual warns us never to do this. But the truth is, it is a natural instinct in moments when your dog is running after another dog or deer or….So, this lead, as wonderful and flexible as it is, requires constant attention unless you have a fabulously behaved and well-trained dog. Otherwise, always wear gloves when using it. And expect that you may drop the whole thing and let it trail noisily after your dog if you want to save yourself from falling, getting cut, having it break and fly back at you should your big strong dog decide to chase something.I don’t blame the company or the seller for any of this. The warnings are all there in the booklet. AND I want you to be aware as you make your purchase.

    Perfect leash
Well made. The 8-meter length allows the dog to rummage in the weeds, yet it is still under control. The spring is strong, but not too strong. I previously bought a cheaper leash (from a different manufacturer) and returned it. I will keep this leash. It is worth the extra money.

I have had this leash for about two years now I think. I have a 50 lb dog and while she doesn’t really pull on the leash she gets the zoomies and will run circles around me at the end of the leash length, never worried once about it snapping. The lock feature is great, I use it quite a bit and it is perfect. I have dropped this leash by accident a couple of times and it has been dragging behind my dog through mud, rocks, sand and even the water and it is still doing fantastic. I love that it allows my dog the freedom to run along side me and sniff things but I cant still maintain control.
