… insurance when my daughter was born and it was fine before I went back to work but just more …
I got the Ameda electric pump through insurance when my daughter was born and it was fine before I went back to work but just more trouble than it was worth once I was pumping 2+ times a day (I won’t get into the reasoning here) but a hand pump had been included in the kit and it worked great! After several months of use, however, the connections were becoming loose and while it still worked, it was increasingly fragile and fell apart while trying to attach it to the flange. I didn’t want to be carting it back and forth to work every day anymore so I ordered this pump. It’s so great having an extra one, and I am being more gentile with this one so it lasts longer than the first one. Having the extra bottle and breast flange has also been wonderful giving me a better rotation between washings.

Did not work!
I ordered this manual breastpump for an upcoming vacation. I did a test run with the pump before leaving and not only was my hand exhausted after using it, I also barely got any milk out, about half an ounce. I just figured that since I had been spoiled by my electic pump for 4 months that I just needed to practice using the manual more and that evenutally I would get the hang of it. Well sadly, this never happened. I used my pump several times over vacation and still was unable to get any milk out, I even tried waiting until my breasts were really full to use it! I eventually gave up trying on this pump and I’m looking into returning it. Very disappointed in my first Ameda purchase =(

Very happy
I ordered this after trying to Haakaa milk catcher (which was unsuccessful). This, combined with tbe correct flange size (I previously had the 22.5 mm) made me vert happy. I was looking for something that is both easy to travel with and easy to use. This is perfect, no outlet needed. I can see being able to use this on a car ride or discreetly when out in public if needed. I’m actually planning on buying a 2nd one since it wad discontinued. You do have to squeeze it which can get tiring but I just pace myself. And I have small hands, and was able to use it comfortably.

I like it and keep ordering so I’d have a spare
I even get more from this pump than my double electric Purely Yours. Of course its manual so more effort. I’ve broken 3 of this in 6 months exclusively pumping so I would appreciate if it’s sturdier. I think I use this 40% of the time, my electric pump 60%. All in all, I like it and keep ordering so I’d have a spare.

Kinda works, but is uncomfortable
April 12, 2012: three starsI got the manual Ameda pump through another website, so I am only commenting on the product, not the seller. I just finished using this pump for the first time, and I wanted to let others know that it’s not as comfortable to use as other manual pumps I have used. The pump works with squeezing action, kind of like those hand exerciser things (you know what I mean?). Anyway, the squeezing action is not easy to keep up if you have carpal tunnel or any wrist strain from working a desk job like I do. I only got one ounce this time around. I much prefer the action of the Medela Harmony manual pump. I don’t like how hard that one is to clean, though. The reason I bought this pump was because I have the Ameda Purely Yours double electric pump, and I wanted a manual option to take on an international trip that could use all of the spare parts that I have already. That way, I can spend less time cleaning it. The only thing that’s different with this pump from my electric pump is the green handle part.Pros:Coordinates with electric pump partsEasy to cleanCompactCons:Strains the wrist and hand (this alone makes me dock it two stars)*may* not be as effective as other manual pumps (will see in the morning)

Great! A Must Have!
I love this product! I have the Ameda Purely Yours, and I wondered if this would be as efficient. I can actually get more milk faster with this hand pump! It’s definitely more convenient in the middle of the night pumping(if Dad gives a bottle or baby only wants to eat on one side) or for outings when I need to quickly pump. I also like how the handle swivels so you can find a comfortable position. I never felt I needed a manual pump when I have the electric, but now I recommend to everyone that you get both!

Hurts My Hand
While this pump removes the milk, it is exhausting for my hand to use! If I am really full, I can quickly collect the first letdown. Pumping further to make sure I empty is exhausting as the pump is difficult to squeeze over and over. Its squeaky and not ergonomically friendly.

Seems Like Scam
Bought this product twice as I thought the first was a mistake, and received just the suction piece for inside the pump both times.

Arrived very fast but box was broken and squished. Did not affect actual product though.

Cheap and flimsy. Use it once. Waste of money.
