I had been looking for a nail grinder for my recent dog rescue adoption, Zoey. She is a 60 pound pitbull mix with fairly thick nails. The CADOLS set comes with the grinder, 3 grinding wheels (1 pre-installed), and a nail clipper. The included directions are not very good and are a bit confusing. Firstly, according to the webpage, there is 1 soft grinding wheel and 2 hard grinding wheels, however according to the included instructions, there is 1 soft wheel, 1 medium wheel, and 1 hard wheel which are all differentiated by the amount of “texture” of the wheel. Honestly, it is a bit difficult to differentiate between the wheels. The grinder has a cap with a perforation on the side and one on the top. The 3 different approaches to the various type of nail your dog has is basically on which perforation in the cap you put your dog’s nail in, with the thickest nail requiring removal of the cap completely. You have a choice of 3 speeds to choose from, with the recommendation to start with the lowest speed initially to acclimate your dog to the sensation and noise (which is minimal) of the grinder. There is minimal vibration and noise, and the grinder appears to work well. Make sure not to utilize the grinder more than 5 seconds per nail as instructed. There are 2 LED lights near the grinding wheel which helps to locate and then avoid the quick of the nail where the blood vessels are found. My only criticism is that the nail clipper is not as sharp as some others I have used and it appears of lesser quality. Beyond that, the CADOLS nail grinder does work well.
