Good starter set
This set of cat grooming tools from SMARTVIN is a good starter set. I rescued a Persian cat from the animal shelter and her hair was in terrible shape. After I got her shaved by a professional groomer, I tried all sorts of combs and brushes each day to keep her hair tangle- and mat-free. She is not a fan of any grooming, so it is a struggle.This set has a metal straight comb with wide and narrow teeth (the groomer called it a Greyhound Comb) that is great for hair that has already been untangled. The “needle brush” is like a slicker brush and it does a fantastic job of detangling her hair without pulling the hair from her skin. She really likes that brush!Also included is a traditional flea comb (I have used this on our shorthaired cat, but the teeth are too close together to use on the longhaired cat), a rubber massage mitt (this also works to remove a bit of hair from the couch cushions), and a dematting rake (I only have to use this occasionally – it does remove a huge amount of her hair, and the sharp teeth do a good job of cutting through stubborn mats).Everything is contained in a pink plastic zipper bag. She recognizes that it is “for her” and will let me know if she is interested in a grooming session.

Pros:Effective rakeFantastic combGreat valueCons:Brush hair removal button is touchyThe rake included with this kit from Smartvin does a fantastic job removing loose hair off my cat. The comb left my dogâs fur quite smooth. And the overall value of this kit is quite impressive considering all that you receive! One downside I did notice, though, is that the hair removal button on the brush needs to be pressed directly in the center with enough force, otherwise it will not work properly.
