How to Use Your haakaa Manual Breast Pump: 
1. Why am I only collecting a small amount of breastmilk? Am I not using the Haakaa correctly?
First, ensure that the Pump is securely attached with a strong suction. Using a warm compress, pumping in the shower, pumping first thing in the morning, and gently massaging your breast, are all easy ways you can stimulate more milk to be expressed!
2. My Haakaa pump hurts to use. How can I stop this? What causes the pain?
Maybe suction too strong. Try to just lightly squeeze the base and attach to your breast making sure your nipple is in the centre of the pump and not touching the sides of the Pump. The more air gets squeezed out, the stronger the suction will be.
3. Why does my Haakaa have a strong smell of plastic? Is there any way to get rid of the smell?
Make a paste of baking soda and water, rub it all over the Pump and then soak it in a 50-50 mixture of white vinegar and warm water for about 30-60min. Then clean your pump thoroughly with warm soapy water. Finally, boiling in hot water for 2-3 mins.
4. Is the 4oz Haakaa suitable for those with larger breasts or a high milk supply?
If a mom has a larger amount of breast milk or larger breasts that require a breast pump with more suction, we recommend trying the 150ml/5oz Haakaa Breast Pump. Larger capacity, stronger suction, and has a upgrade suction base for stand steadily.
5. What time of day is best to express breastmilk?
The easiest time to express milk using a breast pump is in the morning! For the rest of the day, it’s best to express 30 mins to 1 hr after feeding your bub. You can also catch let-down with Haakaa from the other breast while your baby is feeding.

I LOVE Haakaas
A friend gave me some amazing advice before I had my first baby- you can never have enough Haakaas! This item is something I frequently see added to registries, and before having a baby I naturally added one (note, *one*) to my registry too. As soon as I had my baby, I quickly realized one was not enough. In the newborn phase, I was able to catch my letdowns on the opposite side baby was nursing from, and put the excess into a bottle for my husband to do one of the overnight feeds. Throughout my nursing journey, I was eventually able to completely fill up one of these during a single nursingn session too. I soak them in soapy water using Dawn Platinum to keep them nice and clear as well as avoid yellowing. I have also worn them in the shower to catch letdowns in the morning if I wake up before the baby does. Otherwise that would just be wasted milk, and that’s no fun for anyone.

Helpful
These are helpful for catching the milk in opposite breast when I am feeding. The shape is a bit annoying – I have to be careful not to knock if over and spill. I love that it comes with a lid to put directly into the fridge if I donât have time to pour it out and was it.

I donât get the hype
This did not work for me. I wasnt able to manually pump. The only thing that worked was catching dripping milk from the breast I wasnât actively using during breastfeeding. But while doing that it felt bulky and my baby kept kicking at it while feeding on the other breast.

Great For Catching Extra Milk
This is the second Haakaa that I own. I like to use it while nursing to catch milk from the breast that is not being fed from. It’s really easy to wash and will fit into my countertop sterilizer. I like the included lid, as it helps to avoid any spilling. I would recommend.

This is a great collector! Works awesome and the lid is good for reducing spillage. My only issue with this version is the base isnât as wide and sturdy as the next generation with the suction cup on bottom.
