Neat Concept
Iâm a pet sitter, so I got this to have as a back up for difficult dogs who pull or have a habit of sneaking out of collars/harnesses. If the dog has short hair, you donât really need to use the cover, and the cover does come completely off. (I think the cover is mostly to keep long hair from getting tangled in the cord and/or pulled inside the reel.) They really did a good job attaching the cord to the handle, and it isnât the weak point I worried it could be before I received it. However the cord itself is pretty thin, so even though I havenât experienced any problems with it, I just donât trust it enough to use as a primary leash and therefore canât give it a full 5 stars.

Thin cable
Overall this is easy to use and seems well padded but the cable is a little thin and i’m not sure how reliable it will be in the long run but we will see. If your dog is heavy, I would look elsewhere.

Works well for smaller dog
This is very convenient for areas where it’s safe and socially acceptable to have your dog off-leash, but you still want a quick way to grab your dog when needed. The collar is a little bulky but I don’t see how it can get much smaller without compromising strength. As it is, the coiled string is pretty small, I wouldn’t trust it with a larger dog especially if they aren’t trained well. But if your dog is trained not to pull, it works great.

dog leash
This is shorter than I anticipated but it still works really great.

Limited use
I will not say this leash/collar does not work.I will, however, say that I am not certain how much use it will get.The problem with this is that it’s too short to work well as a leash.Even as a short leash, it is challenging because it is retractable.Put another way, usually you want to use a short leash to maximize control, but in this case your dog is on a thin retractable lead that you can only grab at the top.The reason you cannot grab this is in the middle is it is a thin, spring loaded cord, so it can cut into your hand.As a collar, this fit my dog perfectly, but it’s incredibly bulky, so he won’t wear it for long. That means I can’t leave the collar on, so I have an instant leash when I use it.On the other hand, if I am going to purposefully put a lead on my dog, I cannot think of a single case where this would be the lead I would want.Perhaps I am missing something with this one. Moreover, I readily concede the collar and lead do work.Based on our experience with it, however, I would not recommend it; specifically because this has seemingly no advantages and few disadvantages, over traditional leads.
