To divide or not to divide
I got this well-made, Nuby plate for my daughter who is a Montessori teacher and expecting her first son in a few months. How was I to know that she feels that a divided plate may push my new grandson into becoming a picky eater. Freedom is key. No restrictions (or so I’m told). I guess divided plates can increase selectiveness and a child’s preference that their foods remain separate. In my parenting days we took a baby-food grinder everywhere and fed the slurry to our children with a baby spoon. Now-a-days parents feed their children whole foods from a much younger age. My son, who is a nurse married to a nurse, is feeding his nine-month-old almost everything they eat themselves. The little guy just grabs whatever and gnaws away at it. Most of the time, his food is just put on the highchair tray and there’s not a plate used. I observe that their dog especially enjoys this method. They do attempt to feed him a few softer foods with a baby spoon but he seems to resist this a bit.â It seems to make sense to use a regular (non-divided) plate in the beginning to possibly prevent some from developing preferences that their foods don’t touch. But maybe putting all the items on the menu for the meal in the larger compartment of a divided plate may accomplish the same goal. This Nuby divided plate is great because it has steep sides that allow the child to pin the food to the side and more easily get it in their hand or their spoon. The firm-holding suction cups on the bottom of the plate aid in this process and prevent plates from being dumped.

High Quality
I have an 11-month-old granddaughter who is learning to eat table food and a grandson on the way. This set of two silicone suction plates is just perfect for Nana’s house! When pressed to the table these plates don’t budge. I had to release each of the four suction cups using the tabs before I could move the plates. When my kids were little, plates and bowls regularly hit the floor. Those days are gone with great products like this. The plates are made out of high-quality thick silicone. I like how they are divided into one large compartment and two small compartments since I typically prepare meals with a main course and two sides. The only thing I don’t like about the plates is that the lids don’t stay on securely. They simply sit on the edges of the plate. The tiniest bump makes them come off. I don’t see myself using the lids to store food so this isn’t a deal-breaker for me. The lids aren’t flat but because of the suction cups on the bottom of the plates, you are able to stack one plate on top of the other nicely. The plates don’t nest inside each other with the lids removed. Storage is more stable with the lids attached. The listing mentions that they have a food-catching pouch for meal times. I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. There are no food-catching pouches. Maybe they got the details for a bib listing mixed up with these plates. Who knows? Nuby is a trusted brand which makes me confident that the materials used in these plates is safe for my grandchildren. They weren’t terribly smelly coming out of the package like so many products these days which again makes me think they are made out of quality materials. I absolutely love the vibrant colors they chose to use for these plates. I ordered the aqua and coral which is perfect for my little girl and boy.

Almost works to well, lol
The suction on this is very strong. Keep that in mind if you set it down anywhere other than where your child is going to eat if it is full of food. The suction is immediate upon setting it down. I have had food go flying rom trying to unstick it from the counter. The suction is also what makes this a top notch plate choice. My toddler grandchild can’t pick it up and throw it and the food down to the dogs. I love the colors and that the plate has separate compartments. This is an excellent choice if you have a kid that likes to fling things from up on high, lol.

Works as a plate, but without added features
The plates themselves are single piece silicone, as far as I can tell, including the suction cups – which are strong. I’ve had plates in the past that are plastic with silicone/rubber suction cups, and those have split apart at the spot where materials change. So, this seems like a much better bet. The whole plate is somewhat flexible and is appropriate size for toddlers. However, a couple listed features aren’t really worth noting. The “food catching pouch” currently mentioned in the product description is nonexistent – this must be a copy/paste error from a different product.More importantly, the lids are only good for lightly covering the plate to store leftovers in the fridge. It doesn’t secure AT ALL. At the very least, some creative use of rubberbands would be needed if you plan to send a meal to daycare on this plate, and even then I’d expect any juices from fruit, etc. to leak out.If you plan to use this at home, it will work just fine. If you’re searching for something to actually transport food for your kid, look elsewhere.

Nice quality, good for storage
These plates feel well made. The suction is very strong if you have the right surface for it. The covers only fit loosely, so you won’t want to trust them for transporting the plate — it’s just for short term storage of the food until the next meal, say.

The lid doesn’t fit but it does stick well
Was pleasently surprised I got two different, bright-coloured items. Baby liked them. The sections are big enough for his hands to fit in them without hitting a different section. The suction cups are pretty shallow. And if they are wet, they are easy to pull off. But when they are dry, they do suction well enough for baby to not knock it down. You don’t have to pull the tab to take them off, just a slight lift, and they come off.The thing we didn’t like was how the lids do not fit on the product to make a tight, air-lock seal. They’re really easy to open, with the slightest touch. Maybe yours will close properly…but for me, it loses 2 stars for the lids not properly functioning. The bowls themselves would be 4/5.
