Excellent Litter Box
I’d been wanting a stainless-steel litter box but found them a bit too expensive. I was looking for a litter box with a smooth finish where I didn’t have to practically chisel the lumps off the side every time I scooped. I also needed a litter box with a cover because my dog had recently taken to literally diving into the litter and eating cat poop (I know! Utterly disgusting!) So, with my limited budget, I purchased the Smart Paws Top Entry Cat Litter Box. It worked well the first few times I scooped. However, I chalked it up to being a brand-new box with an unscratched surface.Well, it’s been over a month, and I can honestly say this is the best litter box I’ve ever owned. Despite scooping twice a day, the finish is still smooth, and all lumps slide off the bottom and edges with ease. Cleaning out the litter box is so much easier now.The scoop-y thing has rounded edges, and I don’t know if that contributes to anything. It was a bit of a learning curve because the scoop I’d been using has 90-degree edges. Too, it’s a bit on the smaller side. Perhaps some may give that a negative mark, but it still works fine. The litter box is tall enough so that no litter falls out the crevices or urine leaks. It has a gentle snap-on feature along the short sides and a locking feature on the long sides, making removal of the top part a snap (no pun intended). Too, it comes with an extra locking “thingy” in case one of them were to ever break.I must admit that I wasn’t expecting much when I purchased the Smart Paws Top Entry Cat Litter Box, but it turned out to be an excellent buy! I would definitely recommend this litter box to anyone who is looking to make litter scooping a lot less unpleasant.

Stable, sturdy top!
We have a 3 cat household and have had numerous litterbox types over the years, including covered boxes, high sided open boxes, and various litter options. Lots of research and comparison done before this purchase regarding: (1) size, (2) sturdiness, (3) ease of cleaning, (4) price point.(1) One of our cats is 16lbs; this big boy needs enough space to get inside, turn around, do his routine, and hop out. He can; sometimes his head sticks out depending where he’s doing his business (ha!) but he doesn’t have trouble using this box. It’s a bit easier for our regular-sized cats (12lbs), but this box has not deterred him. This rectangle shape has straight (not angled) sides, which I do like for fitting in a tight space. The sides are so much taller than your typical litterbox, which is great for a cat that doesn’t squat all the way down, or stay in that position, when finishing their pee-ing.(2) The top piece stays in place, but is very easy to remove for cleaning. It’s sturdy enough that it can support cat hopping on the top getting in & out. Doesn’t feel flimsy; looks nice too. There is significantly less litter scattered on the floor, so now I come in to clean the box and am not stepping on crunchy little bits of litter everywhere. That is a design feature that works!(3) This box has a flat inside bottom rim, rather than a molded channel that you see on most boxes. It’s easy to get the scooper flat along the bottom to remove the wet waste.(4) I did not want to spend the typical $75 & up, not interested in a self-cleaning box, and just wanted a litterbox that met my requirements listed above. This box hits those marks! We have 3 litterboxes between house and garage; will buy this style when I replace the other 2.

Helps keep litter in its place
Itâs in the corner of a bedroom so itâs easy to grab by the hole in the top to carry out to the trash to clean for easy cleaning. I did have to buy a mat for under it to catch what litter she still kicks out but itâs so much better than the pan with just the higher sides I think itâs a good value. Itâs heavy duty plastic but lightweight, and the latches are very secure. Iâve been really happy with it. And as a bonus, the cat has a place to sit up high and look out the bedroom window if she wants.

great litter box!
I spent a lot of time comparing different top entry litter boxes before purchasing and iâm so happy I did! Iâve had this for about a year and itâs perfect. Good size for my 13 lb cat and does a good job keeping litter inside. Not perfect because sometimes litter will still get out of my cat jumps straight out but still better than a regular litter box.

Intuitive for cats to use, grated top means less litter on the floor. Top access keeps dog out.
We decided to get rid of our large front-opening litter box. It sat on a short end table, which we also got rid of, so we had to have a catpan that is top-entry ONLY, to keep our small dog from being able to get in the pan and dig for tootsie rolls to snack on. LOL. There are a lot of top-access catpans nowadays. We chose this particular pan because rather than a lid, it is cleanly split in half. We use heavy-duty contractor trash bags to line our catpans, to keep litter and mess more under control. Only having to use half the height for this pan means less hassle, plus the cats aren’t being crowded by a full-height liner – which also translates into less of a mess and easier cleaning. This model from Smart Paws has a grated top, with much larger holes than others with this feature – more easily allowing litter stuck to kitty feet to be scraped off and drop back into the pan… before they hop down and track it everywhere. Very slick. It came with a compact poop scooper and an extra set of pan side lock clasps, which is a thoughtful touch. Luckily, all four of our cats took to it right away. We love the smaller footrprint in our crowded livingroom, and clean-up is much simpler/faster. An easy win-win all around. Very happy with this purchase.

Like others who purchased this litter box we had to do so to prevent our new pup from trying to climb into the regular front doored litter box we had for our cat. This litter box absolutely keeps the pup out but an even greater benefit is that the way the cat enters and exits through the top does a great job of catching litter sand. Next to nothing ending up on the floor as she jumps in and out. No more need for a litter catch mat or anything like that. Highly recommended!
