About Us
Thanks for visiting our small biz, Travel Cat.
Emily & Ian here, co-founders (and also, husband and wife). Like many of you, we we inspired by our cats. Our first cat Andie, who we rescued on a whim after finding her abandoned in the back yard of a family member in 2017. We became “cat people” pretty much overnight and quickly noticed there was and still is a lack of products and companies dedicated exclusively to cats.
How did we get our start?
Shortly after we have adopted our first cat, we have decided to launched Your Cat Backpack by Travel Cat.
What problem are we solving?
We are on a mission to help people realize that cats aren’t “easy” because they sleep all day. Cats need enrichment and playtime to live happy and healthy lives.

Good Harness for All Life Stages
If you have an awkward shaped cat (i.e., small neck circumference, large/small chest circumference, and long back length), this is the harness for you.It works for my kitten and my adult cat, as itâs adjustable for neck, chest, and back measurements.This is the second t-back harness Iâve gotten from this brand, and I really like it.I prefer it over their vest harnesses, purely because you can use one harness for all life stages (kitten, long teen, adult, or chonker).Itâs also super easy to put on, has a two D-rings placed at the neck or back, and is easy to wash.

Easy Adjustable Fit for any Cat
I love this harness.. I have a cat with a longer lean body who has been difficult to fit with a harness. This harness offers adjustment for around neck and belly (as expected) as well as LENGTH across the back which allowed me to tailor the fit to my catâs longer lean body. . I have purchased both types of Travel Cat harnesses for my cats and have consistently found that the quality and fit is worth the investment!

I really wanted to like this, but….
My cat has a long back/ shoulder area and a tiny neck and so the idea of being able to lengthen the back area was appealing. This product is cheap though, thin straps, cheap plastic clips and because it’s one size, there’s just too much to loosen or tighten. The hook for the leash isn’t stationary, so to have to go looking for it. Great idea, very poorly executed

Minimally restrictive… My cat loves it
I used the travel cat vest style harness with my previous cat (RIP) but my big kitten did not find it comfortable enough to lie down in or eat in. I could see how it could feel restrictive, so I tried this because it obviously looks minimally restrictive and it’s a winner. I leave it on him for hours after coming back in the house and he lounges, sleeps, eats as though it isn’t there.

Well-made adjustable harness for basically all size cats
We’ve used Travel Cat’s other vest-style harnesses before. They are great, however, you need to measure your cats very precisely and get just the right size. Our cats aren’t really big outside explorers though, so having to get multiple sizes and keep up with which one fits which cat(s) wasn’t as appealing as the cats grow. This H-style harness seems like a perfect compromise.The harness is super lightweight and makes very little contact with the cats compared to the other harnesses. Trying it on three different cats, from a large 13 years old senior to a small 1-year-old junior cat, it fits all just fine. All three were still less than enthused about putting on a harness, so this isn’t going to solve that issue, but it does seem to be less intimidating to them than the other harnesses we’ve tried.The bungie-type leash that comes with the harness is lightweight too and gives enough room to let them roam without going too far. The clips that secure the front and back loops are easy enough to release with one hand with a little practice. The loops where the harness connects (one at the neck and one behind the shoulder blades) are metal as is the piece that connects the neck loop to the center piece. The bits that slide up and down to tighten/loosen the harness are plastic, but they feel very sturdy and seem to hold well.So far, this is the best general-purpose harness we’ve found. We really like how lightweight it is and the adjustability so if one cat wants to go outside for a bit or on a little walk, we can just fit the lease to him/her and go.
