Donât care for nail clippers. Comb should be bigger. A small pair of scissors would help to clip hair around toes.

I have cats and for the longest time the only thing I was using from this set was the nail clipper, which works great. If you have a large dog, I don’t think it would, honestly; it works for my kitten because it’s quick, but I used to have a black lab whose nails would have laughed at this thing. So bear that in mind as you consider!!With that said, by FAR the most valuable thing in this is the de-matter (the grate-like tool with the metal pieces that stick out to the left and right). When I first tried it, I had no idea what I was doing and my Nebelung (medium/long-haired cat with a mane and pantaloons, NOT fun when it comes to mats!!) hated it. But about a week or two ago I gave it another go, and once you know how to use it, WOW. Don’t use on tight mats, mats that are close to the skin, old mats, etc. Those you need to feel out while petting and cut. But for a lot of areas that were trying very hard to become mats, running this through his fur like a brush and giving it a slow, firm pull (not tugging) pulled out SO much fur that would have been matted in a matter of days or weeks. I was stunned by how much this thing got out every time I used it. The inner, rounded edges of each of the metal pieces is sharp, so it doesn’t just pull, it kind of cuts at them, but they’re not sharp enough to be considered a proper razor so if you tug too hard, you’re going to hurt your kitty when it doesn’t slice through fast enough.Overall, I love this thing and my cat loves not having his fluffy little leg stuck to his fluffy little tummy for 4 hours when he gets a sudden mat while I was at work or asleep or something. Great set.

Hair Release BrushPins get jammed
Aside from the hair release button action of the brush, all components are of decent quality. The only issue is the brush pins do not align well when the hair release button is pressed. It bent a few of the pins and several did not align rendering the brush useless. The brush is an essential component of the set.
