Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug
16-Ounce, Lavender/Pink
A stainless mug is a vacuum insulated mug that is designed to drink directly from the mug. Although similar to travel mugs, it offers better heat retention because of its tight fitting lid, and can be stored in a bag or purse without spilling.
How does it keep beverages hot?
The air between two thin layers of stainless steel that make up the body of the mug is removed to create a vacuum. Because there is no air, the temperature on the other side of the wall does not transfer over, keeping
beverages hot or cold for hours.
The Story About Zojirushi
Zojirushi (pronounced ‘zoh-jee-ROO-shee’) began in Japan in 1918 as a manufacturer of hand-blown glass vacuum bottles. Today, Zojirushi’s product line extends to high-end small appliances such as rice cookers, bread makers and coffee makers, high quality vacuum insulated products like vacuum bottles, lunch jars and carafes, and commercial restaurant and coffee equipment. In the past few years, Zojirushi has enhanced the focus on design and how appliances fit into everyday lives with the introduction of a variety of new products. The name Zojirushi means ‘Elephant brand’ in Japanese.

It never leaks, it’s effortless to use one-handed, it keeps drinks HOT! A perfect mug!
I will confess first, before I begin, that I have a pretty strong bias toward Japanese products. This is going back to the days when Sony had no equal in electronics, and when Toyota/Honda were leading the small car revolution. With that said, please forgive me if I sound too impressed with this home run of a mug purchase.I had heard that zojirushi made good products, but I’ve had some bad travel mugs and figured it could have been just another cash-in on brand power. I ordered the stainless steel 12oz because I needed a small one for easy travel (most of my travel is on foot or on bike, living in a big city and all), and when it came, I did thorough investigation of its capabilities.Immediately, I went to the kitchen sink. I filled the mug with water, sealed on the cap, locked the lid, and proceeded to turn it sideways, hold it upside-down, swing it around, shake it vigorously (while still upside-down too!), I pretty much did everything I could, short of anything that might damage the mug. Not a single drop came close to wetting my hand or anywhere else. I even wiped the counter with a rag afterward, just to see if I missed something. It was bone-dry.Next came Coffee. I love coffee, drinking several cups a day and switching to decaf so I can drink more in the afternoon and after dinner. I filled this mug up with fresh coffee, and even half an hour later I almost had to nurse drinking it to avoid burning myself; The coffee was practically just as hot as when I had poured it. I proceeded to comfortably drink hot coffee for several hours without any need to reheat or refill my mug (except of course, for more coffee). Amusingly, it even kept coffee hot longer than the insulated coffee pot did! (funny that one, maybe I should get a zojirushi coffee maker too)Lastly, the ease of operations challenge. They claim that it’s easy to open this mug, drink, and then close it, all with one hand. I will admit, at first it took me a little bit of getting used to the operation, but within a few days at most I was using it fluidly with one hand, which was perfect for my commute, or when shopping at busy downtown markets. I could walk through thick crowds (this is pre-covid of course) and not have any problems with opening it, drinking more coffee, and closing it. Of course, it was still hot even when walking in the nippy winter air. This really is my idea of a perfect travel mug. You can’t make it leak (even when you throw it sideways into a purse for a few hours), you really can use it one-handed, and it really does keep the drinks hot. I’ve done tea in this as well and it was just as good an experience; Never tried hot cocoa as zojirushi advises against milk products being used (If I recall correctly, it was something to do with the pressurized, sealed containers being able to build pressure due to milk doing what milk does). Regardless, what I’ve asked of it, the mug has proceeded to do with flying colors. I cannot recommend this mug strongly enough. If you ever find yourself wanting to have a small, reliable, and easy-to-use travel mug, then you cannot go wrong with zojirushi.

Perfection
I was sitting in a lecture, and for once I wasn’t having trouble falling asleep. Every other day, however, it’s a struggle. It was then I noticed the person next to me pick up a thermos/tumbler (didn’t know they’re called “tumblers” until I went onto amazon) and I thought “I could use one of those, and as long as it doesn’t spill in my bag, I could have coffee for my first class or two…” I ended up buying this exact thermos during that lecture (on my phone) when I noticed such positive reviews. The words that sold it for me were “spillproof,” “safety,” and the phrase “it works TOO well, I can’t drink my coffee until several hours later!” I always drink my coffee black, and I always let it cool down before I drink it, so I wasn’t sure how well it would work out, but trust me, it did!Over the semester, I used the tumbler to store coffee in my backpack for whichever class of the day I needed it most. I would fill it up 8:30 AM, and then toss it in my backpack (initially I was weary of spills, but after testing it several times, it WILL NOT SPILL) with peace of mind, knowing that even IF my notebooks aligned to press in the button to open the spring-loaded lid, the safety latch had my back. Then, I’d forget about it (it’s quick sleek, it’ll easily fit in a backpack–it fits nicer than my “bulky” 1-liter nalgene bottle while the 1.5-liter nalgene is a different story altogether). I can remember vividly sitting in my last lecture of the day, at 2:30 starting to feel fatigued, and I’d whip out the Zojirushi, and with one hand I’d have coffee in an instance. -WARNING- If you put very hot coffee in the thermos, it’s going to come out hot. I don’t know how many times I’ve had the “first-world” problem of: “I can’t drink my coffee…. it’s still too hot” Is it a problem? Maybe for some, but it’s a nice problem to have. I would start to sip the coffee 6-hours after filling it and my friends would ask “that coffee smells really good, where did you get it?” Many times I would end up drinking half and then leave it in the thermos for a few more hours before actually drinking it. Anyway, I’ve rambled on enough.Pros:+ sleek design+ spill-proof+ safety latch (not entirely necessary, but keeps me sane)+ easy to open with one hand, it has a spring-loaded top (great if you’re writing, you don’t have to stop to drink)+ easy to clean (entire lid assembly comes apart+ keeps drinks HOTCons:-/+ Works VERY well. Drinks remain HOT.- “Only” 16 oz (I thought it was a little small at first, but since my coffee is always hot I can’t finish it fast enough to warrant a larger thermos!)- I only use it for coffee, so tea’s a no-go in the thermos (it still smells of coffee, but this would be a problem with almost any thermos, and it’s probably because I mostly just rinse it out instead of properly cleaning it) However, given the quality of the thermos, I’d be more than willing to buy another if I decide I want to be able to store tea.I will and already have recommended this to friends. I think next I’m going to buy a couple for my family!

I recently purchased a Zojirushi insulated bottle, and I couldn’t be more pleased with its performance. The design is sleek and modern, making it easy to carry around, whether I’m commuting or hiking. One of the standout features is its impressive insulation capability. It keeps my beverages hot for hours, and I’ve even found that it keeps iced drinks cold for an entire day, which is perfect for summer outings. The wide mouth opening makes it easy to fill, pour, and clean. The materials feel durable, and the lid seals tightly, preventing any leaks. I appreciate the variety of colors available, allowing for a bit of personal style.Overall, the Zojirushi bottle is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish hydration solution. Highly recommended!

I’ve been using many well-known brands for my travel mug. Hydroflask, frank green etc, but noticed they seem to lose the heat within a few hours. Zojirushi is a well-known brand, I own their rice cooker which has lasted me over 10 years. I only can find this brand in Asia, this flask has been on my wishlist for a while. I recently had a notification of the reduced price of £27 and ordered right away.It did take a few weeks to arrive from the USA, but more than happy to receive it. On first impressions, this stainless steel flask is super lightweight, lighter than the current ones I use. The slim profile makes it easy to fit into the side of my backpack. The travel mug/flask fits 480ml of liquids, perfect for my matcha lattes, teas and coffees. The matcha latte I made wasn’t too hot when I poured it into the flask. I was very surprised to find my drink still hot 4 hours later. It outperformed my other products miles away. The outside doesn’t sweat even with the smooth metal finish. The double-wall vacuum seal works very well.I love that there is a pout-style, which controls the amount of liquid when you drink and the lock at the front is handy. To stop you when accidentally opening the lid. The sprout can be separated from the lid, which makes it easy to clean.
